I created a schedule and it runs fine. I later enabled the email notification with a successful test but am not getting any messages.
How do I enable the emails for an existing job?

Hello Gapi,

To enable email notifications on existing back ups you will have to 'Right-Click' on the definitions then select "Edit".

Under the "Advanced Options" section there is an Email tab where you can set up email notifications.

This kb article below has more information :

Kind Regards,
Daniel.

Thank You But......
I don't have that window or tab available in my version? Is this an outdated article? It doesn't tell you how to get to that point either.
I run the paid Home version. I have clicked on everything and cannot get to anything like described there.

Embarrassed and eating crow here. I found it but had to close Reflect and reopen and it hit me in the face. Thanks.

I have this problem too, running Reflect 6.2 on Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. I have set my backup schedule to be a monthly full backup and a daily incremental one, in each case to run at 00.01 a.m., and for the computer to hibernate subsequently.

I have set up the email specifications as per the KB (and clicking the 'Test' button successfully sends me an email through my email client) and I have specified an email to be sent to me after every backup, whether successful or not. Even so, I have not received any such email, and when I click the Scheduled Backups tab under 'Last Result' I see '0x40010004 Error'; however, I have read that this error code signifies an event in Windows Scheduler that is not relevant to Reflect as it does not use that process. Is that so?

Whatever, there is clearly something not working as it should. This is undoubtedly due to something that I'm missing, and I'd be very grateful if somebody could point it out to me!

@LittleValley

Thanks for posting.

Task Scheduler exit code '0x40010004' is generated when your backup definiton is set to shutdown or reboot at the end of a backup. It simply means that the task scheduler service terminated before Reflect closed but after the backup completed. It is not an eror in this case.  However, If the PC was shut down manually during a backup then you wouldn't receive a log or email notification and you'd also see '0x40010004' as the task end code.

Assuming that the definition was correctly set to shutdown at the end of a backup, then you would receive an email on completion. If the emails have been setup correctly and you're not receiving them then there will be a failure reason/code in the backup log. If the email was sent successfully but you didn't receive them then it's likely that they're in your spam folder:

If you don't see the "Email Notifications" section in your backup log then emails haven't been configured for your backups. This is not the same as the Default settings you mentioned.

Right click on your and select 'Advanced Properties'

Follow the instruction in the section: "Email notification for existing individual backups":

Thank youNick for your prompt reply.

Goodpoint about the spam folder, though since the test message got through withoutany difficulty I wouldn't have expected to find the email acknowledgementstreated as spam, and indeed they were absent from the folder. However I didfind another message there that should not have been treated as spam, so memoto self: check spam folder periodically.

In fact,I already had exactly the settings that you describe (and that are shown in theKB), that is:

  • ·I’d right-clicked on 'Backup Definition Files
  •   I’d selected 'Advanced Properties'
  •     I’d followed the instructions for 'Email notification for existingindividual backups' and had inserted my own email address in the 'recipient'pane of both      ‘success’ and ‘failure’ options.

And stillit won’t play ball!

It’s notthe end of the world, of course, if I don’t get an email notification; I canstill go to the record of the backup and look up ‘Last Result’. But it would bereassuring to have the email, and since the facility is meant to be a featureof the program it is an irritation that I can’t make it happen.

Thanks for getting back.

Can you let us know what the error code is in the log:

http://forum.macrium.com/uploads/images/85e775c6-7c5e-4a89-ad59-eaea.png

Or does to state that the email was successfully sent?

Thanks Nick.
No error message, and log indicates that message was sent.
