I suggest a reference to the folder that is the source of the backup.

For example, and as a suggested syntax, when F:\myfolder is the folder to be backed up, then the relative reference
.\special* excludes all folders at the root of the folder to be backed up, like F:\myfolder\special*, but much easier to specify (because the exclude list is a text) and less prone to errors when F:\myfolder becomes F:\myfolderA .
