The name I enter for a new backup is ignored. This is the first build that has acted this way. Is there a way to correct this behavior? Was there something I missed in the components to be installed? I just quickly accepted the defaults.

Pretty sure it's a bug and not a configuration issue since there are already other reports and results of some testing in this thread: https://forum.macrium.com/Topic18196.aspx

Hi
Can you clarify what form of file name you are using? I have done a full Image backup with v7.1.2607 with file name in the form:
laptop14ABCD {IMAGEID}
and it completed with 'laptop14ABCD' in front of the full Image ID as the file name

Looks like there's an update today that mentions a fix for backup file names not being honored.

Bug Fixes v7.1.2619 - 2nd October 2017:
  • MIG RoboCopy rules
    MIG could incorrectly disallow RoboCopy with /MIR /PURGE parameters correctly set. This has been resolved.
  • Manual backup file names
    When setting a manual backup file name the created file name could be incorrectly truncated. This has been resolved.
  •

Apologies, the second bug fix should read:
  • GUID destination paths not validated correctly
    When using a GUID volume path as a backup destination the path syntax was not validated correctly. This has been resolved.
The backup file name issue was resolved previously

Kind Regards
