I need to clone a system disk from an M.2. Can this be done? Thanks!

I've never done a Clone operation, but Clone operations are a function of Reflect.

The UserGuide/Knowledge Base has this starter article that talks about cloning. The alternative to clone is to restore the backup of the source drive to the new drive. Some folks on this forum think this is safer to do. YMMV/

As I said, I've never done a Clone. I prefer to have a backup available made previously and then restore that backup. But, that's just my preference.

Thanks Dypsis for your image and Dan for your knowledge base info! I'm going to have to dive a bit deeper into the knowledge base. I'm using a NVME ENCLOSURE plugged into a USB 3 port to clone to but it does not show up as being a partition or drive in Reflect's "Select a disk to clone to" window. It is listed as a device drive with my other local disks under "This PC" but Reflect doesn't see it evidently. Thanks so much for your help. Advanced Options doesn't help either.I'll have to read up and dig deeper.

Hi @Suchafan,
If reflect has already been launched and then you plug the drive in, you will need to refresh the local disks page.
Providing screenshots of disk management and reflect would help me and others help you with this issue.

+xHi @Suchafan, If reflect has already been launched and then you plug the drive in, you will need to refresh the local disks page. I am able to find the M.2 drive in Reflect but realized that the M.2 capacity is insufficient for my backup needs. So, I'm scraping the project for now. Do you know if Macrium will ever decide to include partition editing in Reflect? I currently use Windows Disk Management for simple partitioning and formatting at the moment (which is a pain...haha!) Again, I appreciate your help!

Reflect does include simple partition management. For example you can resize a partition. What features are you looking for?

We have limited partition editing tools within reflect as the software's main priority is creating and restoring backups. What we offer is Managing Partitions in the Image Restore and Clone Wizard.
If you find Disk Management a pain, using diskpart through an Elevated Command Prompt may be easier.

Hi Drac, Yes I see there is a simple partition management but if I alter a partition in Disk Management, I don't always see that change as having happened in Reflect - even if I close and reopen Reflect. Thanks though! I'm probably going to invest in a full-featured partitioning app.

There are some good free apps (though some will require a paid version to do more sophisticated operations). I use Partition Wizard that does most things I want to do related to partitioning via the free version.

I used to use Partition Wizard's free version years ago, but they soon crippled it so it wouldn't work on high capacity drives. So, now I use AEOMI Partition Assistant's free version.

DB,
Thanks. I installed the AEOMI Partition Assistant. It seems nice, but I did not try things like convert MBR to GPT - which partition Wizard has but when I tried to run it It says that is in the premium addition only. Does The AEOMI have similar limitations or do all the options shown in the free version actually work?
I did not like that it did not allow me to install the program on the drive of my choice. Did I miss something or is that the way it works?

I know the free version of Partition Assistant has at least one cripple: it won't create WinPE bootable media. It USED to, but they crippled that feature some releases back. The interface says Pro in white text against an orange tag next to features that are crippled in the free version.
If you specify a different path in the installation step, I don't see why it wouldn't let you. But, Wondershare Filmora is stupid in that regard. It ALWAYS installs to the idiotic place of C:\Users and can't be changed. So, maybe Partition Assistant is the same way.

I have have never used AEOMI Partition Assistant, free or otherwise. I have had a good experiences with a free version of MiniTool Partition Wizard, available on the web. Recommended.
For example, a while back when Windows Update left one of my systems with TWO recovery partitions after an update, leaving a useless, space-hogging old version of Windows Recovery, I used MiniTool Partition Wizard Free to rearrange five partitions to a normal, four-partiton layout, and had no problems.. It relocated and resized existing partitions, preserving original contents without requirng a restore from a backup image. But then again, I didn't try to create bootable versions of anything with a partition management tool. For that task, Reflect is usually quite good at merging itself with code from WindowsRE or Windows PE to create bootable Rescue Media.
Had I been creating a new (replacement) disk instead of rearranging/resizing partitions on an existing disk, I certainly would have used Reflect 8's more than adequate tools (suggested by Joe Allen from Support earlier in this topic) to manage partition layout prior while restoring from a backup image. (Also Recommended)

DB, I do not remember seeing an option to install anywhere specific. Thanks for the clue about the little orange and white PRO tags.
Dan,
I have been using Partition Wizard for years and am happy with it. However the free version does not do everything I would like it to. The AEOMI Partition Assistant does have at least one (maybe more) options in the free version - including the one I had wanted to use in PW but it was not available in the free version.
I rarely use the partition managers but every so often they come in handy.

+xReflect does include simple partition management. For example you can resize a partition. What features are you looking for? Very late to the party, but I found by experience that MiniTool Partition Manager Version 11 (the last free one!) does a better job overall in both managing partitions AND cloning disks than does (or at least, did!) than Reflect (subscription version) - and it does work on both Win 10 and Win 11, but one might have to switch off malware protection whilst doing it.
And, quite often, it cloned disks that Reflect had failed to do because it had "hung" at some point in the process.
