Can I delete the Windows.old folder after restoring Win10 OS from Rescue disk?

By Schnout - 16 March 2016 5:37 PM

Thank you Macrium!  I have new Win10 system, which is getting a whole lot of exercise as I build out the OS and install several apps.

After only two weeks, I crashed it.  Could not reboot from Splash screen Macrium PE image, so I had to run from the Rescue DVD.  Successfully rolled back the image to just prior to my crash...

Now...I have a directory called C:\Windows.old, which now - by default - will be backed up with my daily system/partition image.  I'd rather not save this "data" if it is of no use.  Can anybody weigh in?

See the Microsoft article about removing the Windows.old folder by using disk cleanup.

Windows 10 is supposed to automatically delete it about 30 days after it was created but as Arvy pointed out via his link you can do it yourself.
Here is another link that shows various options for Windows 10:Windows 10 previous OS version cleanup
