Will you use Version 9 of Macrium Reflect when it comes out if it becomes lease only?

Would you use Macrium Reflect V9 if it was only offered on a lease basis (pure speculation but intent is to gauge members feelings if such a move was going to happen).

@Danskeman: Thank you for taking the time to set up this poll. I hope it will attract a lot of forum-member participation, and I especially hope that the almost-certain result will catch the company's attention.

if anyone wonders, why this poll: here is an official reply on the topic and quite an interesting debate beforehand. https://forum.macrium.com/post/72091

Protecting my OS, and especially my data, is extremely important to me. Macrium Reflect has NEVER let me down so I consider its cost a small price to pay for my peace of mind, regardless of their pricing policy

I think another poll option that maybe should have been included is "Depends on the software features added to Version 9." That would go hand in hand, for me, with depending on the lease deal. I'd weigh the options of the new features versus how much I would think the lease pricing would be worth for them.

I could care less about the features since I only use the basic image and restore and even at that, it is done manually; not scheduled but that's not for everybody. A problem with all software is that after the basic and a few worthwhile enhancements are added, the additional stuff becomes less useful for most users and this will then begin the shouts of "bloatware". Unfortunately, when it comes to marketing there is the perpetual race to list everything it does and try to make the product look superior to one that doesn't have some esoteric, albeit virutally useless, feature. Seems to me there is a slightly overblown paranoia about Reflect becoming lease only since the perpetual is still listed as an option and we certainly don't know what is coming down the road. I also don't have a hard and fast rule on subscriptions and it really varies on your personal circumstances. I have a MS 365 subscription and being current with all the products the 1TB of OneDrive makes it a good choice for me.

I do not use many (most all) of the advanced features. Basically, I just backup. Occasionally I restore (most often a file), seldom an entire image. Very happy with Reflect. I am not a fan of subscriptions but do not totally rule them out. If MR went to subscription only, I'd have to take a hard look at the fine print. Other software would fit my simple needs but I would like to stay with Reflect.

A problem with polls is that the real world is never as simple (or simplistic) as even the most carefully crafted poll question. I answered "Depends on lease deal" because it was the closest response to "It depends". I have no idea what will sway me one way or the other. And I have no idea when I would switch V9 if I do switch. If V9 were to be released lease-only (and there's no reason to assume it will) or if there were no "family pack" (which we've been told there will be) I would stay on V8 until it stopped working for me, and very few new feature set would likely sway me. I, too, don't use any advanced features. (By definition, because I define "advanced feature" as any feature I don't use. )

It will depend of whether 9 is lease model only or not. If it is lease model only then it will be a no from me. I would rather stay with 8 & see how those who upgrade report back on 9. If there’s still a one-off charge & a reduction for those upgrading then I’ll buy.
