Hi,

Version 8.1 will be released very soon with all the relevant updates from Reflect 8.1. I can't give you an exact date though.

Kind Regards,

Alex

Ok, thanks!  Very much looking forward to it, especially to leverage faster drives and networks.

While you're at it, will you please strongly consider adding time marks at each partition in the backup and restore log file, including that appears in the status window, please?
Because backup exerts a lot of stress on every aspect of a computer, weak hardware will often stumble during backup. Seeing backup time by partition will allow us the unique ability to correlate activities with Windows Event to narrow down the root cause of a problem.

And, can there be an option to abandon a backup or verify (but keep the created backup file) when they encroach on working hours, please?
For example, again, because backups and verify can monopolize CPU and disk, a hardware or OS problem can cause a backup or verify process to run long stretching into working hours which adversely affects server speed and user experience, and generates lots of help desk calls, escalation to higher level support, involvement of server admins, lots of troubleshooting, investigation and finally killing the backup job (assuming the server is responsively accessible). The entire fire drill, which typically occurs before most everyone is in, or has their first coffee, could be avoided by automatically cancelling backup and verify jobs that run past X time.

Thanks for your consideration!

Running on 8.1.7570. Is the speedfix implemented in this version? Not getting near the throughput my disks can handle.

Two things which may be affecting this - first, it may be that your Site Manager backups are happening at a low priority. We default new backup definitions (and upgrades from pre-8.1) to the lowest priority to prevent issues with customers who run backups on systems which can't be disrupted during normal operation. You can try changing the priority in the Backup Definition and seeing if that affects the speeds.

Secondly, most Site Manager backups are limited by network speed - it would be worth checking network saturation during backup to see if this is causing a bottleneck.

Kind Regards,

Alex

Thanks for clarifying, Alex. Did some testing and for some reason, Reflect doesn't seem to like RAID arrays, in speed testing them they score very low. Now trying out a new flash PCI-X card, will be here next week.
