I deleted the wrong hard drive during a Windows setup.
The hard drive is encrypted with Bitlocker.
In order to restore the partition or restore data, I want to create an exact backup beforehand.
But that doesn't work with Macrium.
I now have to use a tool like R-Studio or UFS Explorer to back up the data before restoring.

Reflect has quite extensive support for BitLocker for cloning, image backup, and image restore of both unlocked and locked volumes.  Here is Macrium's KB article about it. What is your use that isn't covered by the capabilities described there?

The Bitlocker encrypted hard drive has been deleted.

No possibility to create a backup of the hard drive.

Partition before recovery.

I would have liked to have made a backup beforehand.

Reflect could have made a backup of the BitLocker partition before you deleted it, even if the partition was locked at the time. Are you saying you wanted Reflect to make a backup of the disk AFTER you deleted the partition? In that case, you're correct that Reflect can't do that, at least to the best of my knowledge. There is a "forensic mode" that causes Reflect to capture every individual sector, but that still requires the partition to exist.

Yes that's it.
Macrium can't, and that's a shame.
Tools like R-Studio or UFS Explorer can do that.
Even though the hard drive has been erased, there is still data on it.

Coba,

You can try to recover the partition using Windows.  Then back it up with Reflect.  I suspect that R-Studio cannot create and edit txt documents - nor should it.  Adding features to backup software that can be done within the OS is a waste of development time.

See this link to recover the partition.

Coba,
See this link to recover the partition.

Thanks for your reply and the link to partition recovery.
But Windows cannot recover the partition because it is not a RAW partition.

It is an unallocated partition

I was able to recover the Bitlocker encrypted partition using a partition tool.

The partition tool sees that the deleted partition contains data from a partition and can restore this partition.
Macrium can't see any data or just sees "unallocated" and won't back up.

Coba,

Glad you found a way to get your data recovered.  Not sure whether Reflect needs that capability.  There are free partition managers available (e.g. Partition Manager) than should do that job.  Adding every possible feature to Reflect (not related to data backup and restore) that is easily and freely available elsewhere is not a good use of Reflect developer time.  I would rather see them add new backup related enhancements like 8.1's new hi speed backups.  That is much more important to ME then adding an unrelated feature that I can find in a program whose PURPOSE is to manage partitions.

Of course you could contact Microsoft and suggest they had the capability to Windows since it has some partition management features already.  It seems to me that is a much more appropriate place for that capability.

I don't think you understand what I mean.
Macrium is a pure backup tool.
It's just that Macrium, as a pure backup tool, cannot create a backup of a disk with a deleted partition.
That's all.
Why do you think that a special backup shouldn't be part of Macrium's job?

If you delete a file on one of your disks, will that file be backed up?  I don't think so. So why should a deleted partition be backed up?  If you delete something you are indicating you no longer want that data.  There are file undelete programs - but Macrium (and other file backup programs) do not have a file undelete and I do not see you requesting one.  Why?  And those programs typically do not have the ability to backup or copy deleted files.  Why?  Could it be that the definition of deleted is that it is gone - not there?  If someone mistakenly deletes a file (or partition) there are programs designed to undelete them (if possible).  Why should every possible file or partition related function be part of a backup program?  Again, all that programming takes time (and money) to create, test and maintain.  What is the business purpose of adding logic to a program that might be used rarely by a very small number of users AND is readily available for free?
