So when I have an endpoint offsite, and the endpoint can get through the firewall with 51515, it can connect to site manager.  When it tried to make the backup it can't see the file share on in internal nas.  Is there some way to allow the backups to happen without a) exposing the file share to the internet b) involving a vpn.  Like can you proxy the backup through site manager?  Thanks

is there a way to maybe script a tunnel up that runs as an early step in the backup process?

Unfortunately at the moment there aren't really any tools that can help with this as part of Site Manager - the system is intended to be used across a LAN or always-on VPN rather than the internet. There is a facility to run scripts on the Agent that can cause it to defer backups (intended for intermittently connected laptops that should only be backed up when in the office, not when on the road). This doesn't quite seem to fit your use case.
We are considering adding some features for pre- and post- backup scripting as part of a future release which may help.

Kind Regards,
