Creating rescue media on an encrypted USB stick

I know this won't work on my Ironkey encrypted USB stick. You have to be able to run a Windows program (not encrypted) on the Ironkey to unlock all the encrypted folders.

But there are encrypted USB sticks that are OS independent. They have built-in keypads to enter the PIN. I'm wondering if anyone has tried using one of this type of USB stick for Rescue Media?

Unless there’s something about their design that precludes them from being used as boot devices, I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t work
