I've upgraded and I'm not seeing things listed in the change log:
- I don't see the site Manager 8 Upgrade wizard, where is it?
- On the license page, V 7 licenses can be upgraded to v 8 if eligible, how?

Morris, I'm a user just like u.

I believe what Macrium is saying in their Site Manager update is that the Site Mgr 7.3.5556 update included the ability of Site Manager to use Reflect 8 and Reflect 8 Key's should the local Reflect on the Server or Workstation be upgraded to v8 separate of Site Mgr.

I don't believe you will find Site Mgr upgrading the Agents to v8 yet. Probably shortly.

I just upgraded a server and stepped through the upgrade to v8 on the Macrium Reflect full install on the server. It upgraded to v8 along with the assignment of a new key.

The "Reflect Agent" on the server is still at v7.3.5920

Hope this helps.

Hi Morris
I think your real question is: Is Site Manager V8 available?
As near as I can tell it is not, I have even downloaded the latest version and it is V7.
I also had the question of: Is Server Plus now supported in Site Manager?
Looking at the matrix for Site Manager VS standalone installations it appears that it is still not supported, that's unfortunate.
Hope that helps Morris
Dan

Thank you Stew,

I've got a mix of stand alone clients licenses and workstation licenses.  Clearly I've got to take care of the stand alone client licenses.  The text seemed to imply that there was some soft of action needed to update workstation licenses.
I did get the ability to use V8 keys and am glad to hear that there being accepted.

I'll sit back and enjoy the ride.

Have a great day!

Thank you Dan,

That's another question and I don't want to be on 8 till I get all my clients upgraded to avoid client lockout.

Have a great day,

Morris

Hi All,

Site Manager 8 is not yet available, but should be later this week. The release that has just gone out will allow you to use version 8 licenses and stay on version 7 - we've tried to consider different upgrade scenarios and build as much flexibility as we can into the system -

  • Site Manager 7 will recognize version 8 Agent licenses and version 8 standalone Reflect licenses as valid, so you can upgrade the licenses without being forced into upgrading the software to continue backing up
  • When Site Manager 8 is released, the upgrade process is a wizard which will take you through upgrading licenses - all Agent licenses must be upgraded before upgrading the Site Manager version, standalone Reflect licenses can be updated before upgrade
  • Site Manager 8 will also have the ability to upgrade licenses of standalone Reflect installs and if you add a version 7 Agent license to Site Manager 8, it will attempt to upgrade it
  • To upgrade a standalone license, you must be running the most recent Reflect 7 version and Agent version - this is so that if you upgrade the license, to version 8, both Reflect and Site Manager will recognize it as valid
  • We still have the ability to release Site Manager 7 updates - although ongoing feature development has shifted to Site Manager 8, Site Manager 7 will continue to receive support, bug fixes and updates required due to Windows OS changes etc
If you have any specific questions or upgrade scenarios, please let me know.

Kind Regards,

Alex

Nice and clear.  Possibly you can write or at least proof read the change logs in the future.

Have a great day,

Hi all - just a note that Site Manager 8 should now (or shortly) be live.
There's an article on the Site Manager 8 Knowledgebase with a list of new features - https://knowledgebase.macrium.com/display/MSM8/Site+Manager+8+-+New+Features

My licenses say supported until 2/26/2022 but when I try to use the upgrade wizard I get an error saying "Error upgrading Agent License - <license key> Upgrade failed - Upgrade not available"

I re-upped support through the website in April in anticipation of this release...
