At present, my Macrium Standalone clients are performing the consolidations for their respective backups.

However, for a number of devices which are WiFi-only, the consolidation is quite the slow process, which led me to wonder if my server running Site Manager can be made to perform the consolidation process instead, as that would be considerably faster and more reliable.

Is this a feasible wish or does it have to be performed by the respective client due to other constraints?

Hi,

This is definitely a reasonable request - adding the ability to perform consolidation as an additional scheduled task type in Site Manager is something we've had on our internal feature request list from some time - I'll add your use case to our system, I think WiFi and network constraints are a good additional reason to add this feature that might not have been considered previously.
