Following help in adding backup comment and backup method to Windows Explorer I'm now able to read the backup method (full/incremental etc). Could someone please advise me how I can enter backup comments to those backups. Thanks .

The comments, at this time, cannot be added to the backups AFTER THE FACT. They may only be added prior to the backups being made using the COMMENTS option of the backup settings.

Thank you, I thought that might be the case. As I see it, unless I'm wrong of course, is that NO comments could be appended to scheduled backups, is that the case? Thank you

The only way to get comments into scheduled backups is to edit the definition file to include the desire comment. But then that same comment will he added to every single backup. That might be useful if you’re storing multiple backups from completely unrelated jobs all in the same folder (and using the default Image ID file naming for all files), since that way you can use the comment to identify which backups came from which job. But you can’t use that mechanism to uniquely identify a particular backup.
If you want to add a unique comment to a specific backup, you’d run a manual backup by going to the Backup Definition Files tab, right-clicking the appropriate definition file, then clicking Run Now > Prompt. Select the desired backup type, then click the button to add a comment, which would override any comment configured in the definition file for that one backup.
You also can’t add comments to existing backup files after they’ve been created, although that capability has been requested several times.

Thank you You could do it for future backups by editing the backup definition's file and changing the "text comments" in an xml editor. If you that's what you mean to do. I actually edited several things in a backup definition. We should be able to edit advanced options without having to actually run the backup. Hope it gets included in version 8.

You can already edit Advanced Options without running a backup. Open Reflect, go to the Backup Definition Files tab, right-click the definition file, click Edit, click Advanced Options in the lower-left corner, make any desired changes, click OK, then click Finish in the original wizard window. Out of curiosity, what method have you been using that requires actually running a backup?

For some unknown reason I've lost the last two columns - Comment and Backup Method. They were available when I initially posted this thread. I'd still like to be able to add information after backups, which might be quite some time after the backup, eg, "Prior to installing Photoshop", "Following adding Maxtor internal HDD". Thus far I've NOT found it necessary to add a comment in advance and hope MR make the facility available in the future

You should be able to get those columns back by right-clicking any of the column titles. This will open a drop-down box where you can select the columns to be displayed. You may need to select "MORE" to get the ones you want. Not sure why those columns disappeared.
