Try running "chkdsk /r" on your C drive.  Your system will need to reboot for that since it's the Windows partition, and it might take quite a while, during which time you won't be able to use your system, so plan accordingly.

CRC checks generally mean some kind of read error on the media.  So, your drive may need repair or it may be dying.  Hopefully, chkdsk /f, which I also recommend, will just fix some bad file allocations.

I recommended Chkdsk /R, which more extensive than /F, but I suppose Chkdsk /F might be worth trying first in case that much faster process solves the problem.

/R is that Repair?  I don't think I've ever heard of /R, actually, just /F for Fix, I think.  Actually, if I'd just read your reply more closely, I'd have seen you said that.    I just made a cursory glance at it, where the r kind of resembled an f.

Running CHKDSK /? will tell you what it does, but it basically performs a disk surface scan looking for bad clusters, not just bad file system information.

Information is permanently lost when a sector returns a CRC error. It cannot be recovered.

The /R switch will cause the entire volume, not just clusters in use, to be read. Any clusters that cannot be read, because at least 1 sector has a CRC error, will be added to the MFT $BadClus file which prevents those clusters from being made available to store data. Where existing clusters in use by a file cannot be read then the cluster run(s) are relocated to a good area on disk but the data contents that resided in bad sectors will be undetermined. Data is lost.
