I am trying to create a Rescue Media CD under Win7 Pro 64 bit. The PC has an NVME M.2 PCIE C: Drive with the OS on it so I am guessing the Rescue Media CD needs these drivers? I have what I believe are the correct files in a folder on a hard drive Reflect can see, but the Rescue Media dialogue box says no drivers found or similar. What form should these drivers take and are they needed to allow the Rescue Media to see and operate an M.2 PCIE system drive? Thanks.I am using Reflect V6.3.1865

The Windows 7 kernel requires both drivers and a pair of hotfixes to properly support NVMe, and Reflect doesn’t support injecting hotfixes into its Rescue Media builds, so it would be much easier to have Reflect build Rescue Media on top of a WinPE kernel that has native support for NVMe built in — which you can do even though you’re running Windows 7. On Reflect V6, at the first step of the Rescue Media wizard, click Change PE Version and select WinPE 10. You’ll be prompted to download a file from Microsoft later in the wizard, but after you do, you’ll have WinPE 10-based Rescue Media. That will also add support for USB 3 as well as booting in UEFI mode, which the Windows 7 kernel also doesn’t support.

I intended to reply to this before but I wasn't sure it was supported in Version 6.  I knew it was something to do with changing the type of WinPE build, but I didn't know if it was only introduced in V7 or not.

The use of PE10 has added the drives as expected, many thanks. Am I OK to delete the large download supporting PE10 from the hard drive now the repair media has been created please? No, you’ll need to keep those files because Reflect will need them whenever it rebuilds Rescue Media, which it will periodically have to do, such as after Reflect itself has been updated and a few other circumstances. If you downloaded the PE files using the download agent and got a zip file, you’d be able to delete that because Reflect would have extracted that elsewhere for future use, but if you downloaded directly in the application, then the only files you have are files you’ll need going forward. You could however delete the files for WinPE 3.1 if you’ll be using WinPE 10 going forward.

Still applies. Reflect V6 and V7 both support building Rescue Media on top of a range of WinPE versions and they both cache files the same way. If you’re asking about whether you’ll ever have to rebuild Rescue Media because V6 is end of life, Macrium has already issued a couple of updates since Reflect V6 reached its official end of support date. And if you ever need to incorporate newer/more drivers into Rescue Media, you’d have to rebuild at that point too.

Well if you want to check, go to C:\ProgramData\Macrium\Reflect\Windows Kits.  You'll need to keep the 10.0 folder for WinPE 10 files, but you can delete other folders in there.  Absolute worst case, if you delete something Reflect needs later, Reflect will prompt you to download it again, so there's no real risk here.  Good luck!
