I know booting MR images is hyper-v only. Is there any news whether there will be an update to support also vmware?

My issue is that I need vmware for work, so I can't use hyper-v to check my images on the same computer.

​​Unfortunately, I can't offer you any estimate on when this will be available, but VMWare/VirtualBox support is something that we are looking into and it should be available in a future update.
