Hello,

I created a splitted Windows 10 image and wanted to add it in viBoot.
If I choose the splitted image file (I tried the first and last image file) viBoot give me an error:
Error    08.12.2018 01:58:57    Could not load image file [X:\910760BF5FB8E178-00-00.mrimg], error code 4 - [LOAD_FILE_INCOMPLETE]

Maybe viBoot can't load splitted images?

Any ideas for a solution?

I haven't found anything mentioning anything about split image support in viBoot either way, but it looks like someone else posted about this issue a while ago, although no response was ever received: https://forum.macrium.com/Topic15375.aspx

Thank you for your answer. I saw this topic already, but I opened a new topic because the other thread is more than 1 year old.
I've read the knowledgebase and searched about this error on google, but I don't have found any information about split image support at viBoot.
I hoped somebody has a answer for this issue.

Please can you confirm that you are able to successfully Explore the backup using Windows Explorer?

You can do this by right-clicking on the image file and selecting "Explore image" from the popup menu.

Yes, I can click "Explore image" in the Windows Explorer.
I tried to explore it. It seems that images are not usable if the splitted image is saved on 2 Drives.
So it is not possible to recover splitted images if it saved on 2 drives? It would be bad.

I believe you can restore a split image when the parts are in different places because Reflect will prompt you to provide the next file when it needs it during the restore operation — that is how Reflect supports restoring from backups that are spread across multiple DVDs, for example. But viBoot and exploring both require all of the image data to be available at the same time, which is not true during a restore. Even if both of your drives are available at the same time, I don’t think Reflect supports looking in multiple places for different parts of the same backup at the same time. It would have been helpful to mention that you are storing the different pieces of your backup in different places at the very beginning though, since that is definitely not a typical practice.

I would recommend just getting a larger drive to store your backups. Storage is cheap, and splitting portions of the same backup across multiple disks increases your chances of data loss, because if any of those disks fails, you’ll lose your entire backup.

You are right it is better to save the whole image on one drive. It is a temporary solution at this moment. Later the images will be saved on one drive.
The most important thing for _now_ is that i could restore the image from different drives (splitted image).
