jgranto, Glad to get that confirmation. I have been running some additional tests. With similar setup (medium compression), my image backup (Samsung SSD source and WD My Book 3.0 target, roughly 130GB total backup size) under v6 took 18-20 minutes for the backup segment and 12-14 minutes for verification. With v7 I am getting 17-18 minute backup times and roughly 25 minutes verification times. So, verification times have gone from roughly 60% of backup time under v6 to 150% of backup time under v7. My AV is Windows Defender. I have excluded the target drive, five relevant executable files (Reflect.exe, Reflectbin.exe, ReflectMonitor.exe, ReflectUI.exe, and MacriumService.exe), as well as the Macrium primary program directory from AV scanning. I have also tried turning the AV program off completely, and this doesn't change backup or verification times materially. Macrium is saying that nothing has changed with the verification code, but at a minimum some other code element that interacts with verification seems to be impairing verfication processing time. Hopefully they will figure it out.

Hi Thanks for your post. Sorry for the problems. This is very strange as the verification process is optimal and unchanged from v6. We are conducting some more in-house benchmarks to repeat this behaviour.
Kind Regards Nick Macrium Support

Per Macrium support, I had disabled Direct I/O, and the backups were still slow. I got a new update yesterday, v7.0.2089 - I re-enabled Direct I/O, left Avast (AV) enabled, and performed the backup previously mentioned. It took a bit under 4.5 hours, which is on par with v6.
At this point I seem to have regained v6 performance. I am not seeing the performance improvements advertised with v7, but at least things are on par with v6. I have closed by ticket. Hopefully others will find build 2089 resolves their backup performance issues, as well.

Just to set expectations, I believe that the estimated 60% improvement pertains to scenarios that would leverage the new CBT feature. If that doesn't apply to your use case, then don't expect a massive increase. Even if your use case does use CBT, the real-world improvement will still depend on a lot of factors, like how often you're capturing backups, how much data changes between backups, etc. I don't know what assumptions Macrium made when selecting the 60% improvement figure.

I think you're right; however, I certainly wasn't expecting/hoping for a material deterioration in backup time, which is what I have experienced. Notwithstanding the fact that jgranto has been able to recapture v6 times, I have not. My backup times for full disk imaging are on par w/v6 (maybe slightly better), but verification times have nearly doubled. Frustrating. Hopefully the engineers will figure out what is going on and get it addressed in a future update.

Has this verification time increase issue been resolved now in V7 ?
Thinking of upgrading but not if my backup times are longer...

fireplex, It has been resolved (at least for my setup/configuration). Backup + verification times are now back to the same ballpark I was getting in v6 for both full drive imaging, as well as for extensive file backup operations.

+xHas this verification time increase issue been resolved now in V7 ? Thinking of upgrading but not if my backup times are longer... My backup times are back to being WAY too long. Roughly double the amount of time they used to be, but let me explain. SSD to HD backup is fast, just a little slower than it used to be. However, HD to HD backup took a nose dive after the last update, or perhaps the one after that. What used to take 4 -5 hours now takes over 9. Very frustrating.
